Employee Testimonials

“When I came here as an employee, I was touched by the warmth I felt in our home. Over these many years it has become home to me. Hickory Creek at Gaston Development Center is more than just the place I work, it is where my family is. I know the friendship and love I will experience each day as I arrive from both employees and our residents. I am greeted with beautiful smiles and warm handshakes wherever I go on our spacious grounds.”
~Michael Wilkinson, Administrator

“I have worked in several different roles at Hickory Creek and there have been rewards in each role. Nothing compares, however, to the rewards of working directly with our residents. They truly do have a special place in my heart. Management is great and our employees are like one big happy family.”
~ Rhonda Sexton, Employee Training Coordinator

“I started working at Hickory Creek at Gaston in July 1986, then known as ProCare Development Center. I was only 19 years old and right out of high school. My first experience when I came to fill out the application was running into a resident on the front walk. I did not know who he was, and asked him where the office was, I soon figured out he was not an employee. I dearly love the residents and I am especially close to a couple of them. I have seen them grow as well as myself over the years. I truly have grown up here, side by side with many of our residents. Each and every resident is special and they have shown me so much. They have taught me love, patience and how to give even when you have nothing to give. Every major event in my life so far has happened while I have been employed at Hickory Creek at Gaston. The staff are great and have always been good to me. The relationships I have developed have been good ones and I am surrounded by a very caring bunch of people. There have been really good times and I have had my share of bad times, but I really can’t imagine working anywhere else. I consider the staff and the residents at Hickory Creek at Gaston my family.”
~ Tammy McKim, Certified Nurses Assistant

“I enjoy working with a positive team, being in a friendly environment, and having an Administrator who has an open door policy. It’s great to see smiles on Resident’s faces and see pride that our Employees take in a job that’s not always easy. It takes all Employees working together to make our facility GREAT for the Residents.”
~ Michelle Flowers, Business Office Manager

“I have been employed at Hickory Creek at Sunset for 27 years. It has been a large part of my life. Throughout those years the quality of care has always, and will continue to be the main focus of the services that we provide. There have been a number of changes throughout my employment but they have always been made in the best interest of the residents and the staff. I feel the addition of our strong Therapy Team, who provide inpatient and outpatient therapy, has been one very positive change. The whole staff is caring and devoted to our residents, families and the community. I have and always will be proud to state that I am an employee and part of the health care team at Hickory Creek at Sunset.”
~ Ruth McDonald, LPN and Medical Records

~ Sherry Kellems, CNA

“I have worked here for the past ten years. The staff really make me proud to work for Hickory Creek at Rochester because of the quality of care they provide and the extra attention and support they give at the end of life. Residents are treated like they are at home; it is their home and everyone here does their part to make sure of this.”
~ Robin Ewing, Social Services Director

“We have great team work, everyone pitches in, even administrative staff. I can always turn to my DON with concerns and she listens and helps to solve the problem. We have the best nurses, best CNAs, best dietary, laundry, housekeepers, activity director and social worker. The environment is so small so staff and residents are one big family. We expect the best for our residents and give our best. I am proud to say I have been a staff member of Hickory Creek at Columbus for 14 years.”
~ Sue Fields, CNA

“I joined the staff of Hickory Creek at Lebanon in January as a staff LPN on the night shift. In the 11 months I have been here I have had the opportunity to teach a CNA class, become an instructor and am currently learning MDS. Working here at Hickory Creek has been a professional development dream.”
~ Tammy Denny, LPN

“Everyone here is always smiling and very happy to help families and the residents. You become part of the family. Hickory Creek at Winamac is a great place to work. I have been here since December 2005 and love it.”
