In each Hickory Creek home you’ll find the Quality First Membership Covenant proudly displayed. It shows that we commit to continually assessing what we do and how we do it.That may involve methods to monitor a resident’s needs; job design and training for staff; or a change in the culture of our organization with the goal of promoting standards of quality and ethics in the provision of aging services.
Quality First helps our organization fulfill our belief that non-profits have a special role to provide healthy, affordable and ethical aging services. It demonstrates to the public that we are committed to the families we serve and helps us keep up with change in our field.

Government Quality Initiatives
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, awards a Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) contract to one company in each state and territory. The QIO in each state is charged with assisting nursing homes in improving the quality of care for Medicare beneficiaries; protecting the integrity of the Medicare Trust Fund; focusing on quality improvement initiatives; and promoting preventative health care services.
In Indiana, the QIO is Health Care Excel. It objectively evaluates health-care quality; designs customized management solutions; and develops educational programs to significantly improve the delivery of health services.
In Ohio, the QIO is KePro. It offers special services to Medicare beneficiaries to ensure they receive the right care every time; reviews the quality of care provided to beneficiaries; and implements projects for improving quality of care.
